| Bambi’s summer concert tour dominates the lives of the Safe Havens gang in 2008, but it’s hardly the only event. Other storylines include Samantha’s mother running for state lieutenant governor, Dave leading the Havens basketball team to the Final Four and the freshman dorm finding itself under foreclosure.
Rupert and Rosalind switch bodies on Valentine’s Day, Don is drafted into the NBA, and Samantha has to substitute for both Roger as the school mascot and as her mother in a political debate. Remora the mermaid is visited by an old boyfriend, a shark.
Samantha discovers that her feelings are written all over her face, and in a more conventional display of body art, Dave gets a tattoo.
Marcie, a seven-foot, four-inch basketball phenom comes onto the scene to play for the Havens boys’ team. It’s telling that in many ways, she’s the most normal member of the cast.
